The value Cuckoo

Cuckoo is best known for its pressurized rice cookers, but not everyone needs pressure — and the CR-0631F is the model for them. It keeps Cuckoo's Korean build and Micom fuzzy-logic control, with a menu set that still covers GABA brown rice, mixed rice and porridge plus a My Mode custom setting, but drops the pressure mechanism and the price that comes with it. At 580 W it is the lowest-draw full-size rice cooker on this site, which makes it the cheapest here to run.

What you keep from the pressure model

Most of what makes a Cuckoo a Cuckoo survives the drop to non-pressure. The fuzzy-logic heat control is the same idea — the cooker senses and adjusts rather than running a dumb timer — and the menu breadth is unusually generous for the price, with the GABA (germinated brown rice) and porridge modes that Korean cookers do well and many budget rivals omit entirely. The My Mode setting lets you tune and save a custom cook, which is a genuinely useful feature at this tier. If you liked the idea of a Cuckoo but balked at the pressure model's cost, this is the same family for less.

What you give up: the pressure texture

The honest trade is texture. Cooking rice under pressure raises the boiling point and produces a distinctly fluffier, stickier grain — the real advantage of the CRP-P0609S, especially for short-grain and mixed rice. The CR-0631F cannot do that; it makes very good fuzzy-logic rice, but not the pressurized-rice result. It also uses a plain nonstick pot rather than the pressure model's 304-stainless-backed one, so the pot will wear sooner. If the pressurized texture is specifically what drew you to Cuckoo, this is deliberately the model without it.

A documentation footnote

One small friction: Cuckoo publishes the 580 W rating in the CR-0631F series manual rather than on the retail product page, so you have to go looking for it. We cite the manual page directly, and it does confirm the figure — but a brand that puts the wattage only in the manual scores a touch lower on our Documentation metric than one, like Zojirushi, that prints it on the product page. It is a minor point, and the number is real; it is just less easy to find than it should be.
